More details
Important: this is a family-oriented and community fun self-liberating event, not anybody's personal event!
People from any age and sex may participate, and then MUST SIGN a DISCLAIMER that allows photographers and video artists to document this public event without being sued afterwards!
This is not is any way a gay community related event, but sexual orientation is definetely not a barrier to participate!
Dog owners may bring their pet, but only if the animal isn't aggressive or agoraphobic, and they keep them on a short leash at alll times during the event (or else face hefty fines from the city of Montréal).
Placards and banners with positive messages, hats and decorations (other than clothes) are more than welcome!
Some "support" people will be needed to keep an eye on the walkers' and cyclists' clothing and belongings.
"Downtown" (as mentionned in the title of the event) may as well mean St. Catherine Street, St. Laurent Blvd., St. Denis Street, Mont Royal Ave., or any other street a majority of participants will deem safe and more interesting to hold the event.
The participants will have a say as to what moment of the year will be chosen for the event. December to March could be fun, but then the event would most likely only last a few short minutes.
In case of persistant rain, the event would be postponed a week later. And if if rains then too, it will be postponed again until conditions permit us to proceed and have silly fun!
LEGAL NOTES: Police may possibly be contacted prior to the event in order to:
1. organize a street escort for our safety (from motorists, religious fanatics or other unforeseen risks);
2. to make the event official and credible;
3. to make sure no whatsoever arrest could take place.
But nevertheless people under "court imposed conditions" following an arrest in a demo are invited not to participate (for their freedom's sake and for the positive image of the event!)
In case the police would be contacted, we understand they may force us to change route for the event (St. Catherine or René-Lévesque Blvd. are definetely going to be refused, unless we are 100's of participants!)
